She was presented with the certificate at Guildhall on Friday 17th May 2019.

A City Law Firm (ACLF) launched in London ten years ago and quickly became the go to firm for scale-up businesses, entrepreneurs in the disruptive markets and the LGBT community. Karen was nominated for the prestigious award for her work to raise awareness for equality and her firm’s support for females in business and for rights for the LGBT community.

Karen’s acceptance of the Freedom of the City differs from the majority of others as she was handpicked and invited, rather than having applied for the title of Freeman. This places her in the same bracket as Florence Nightingale and Margaret Thatcher.

Karen has a wealth of experience addressing equality issues and supporting alternative families or pioneering for changes in the law. She has helped support her clients through various issues such as surrogacy, discrimination, HIV insurance refusal, transgender rights and other personal affairs.

Karen says: “I’m delighted and honoured to receive this. It’s important to me that A City Law Firm challenges all forms of discrimination, harassment and unfair treatment – we will continue to strive to enhance the legal resources available to the community and help support members find an equal footing.”
