Senior Consultant Solicitor
She initially qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executive in 1999 and having attended University of Westminster Law School London (part-time) she then attended Guildford College of Law and has been qualified as a solicitor since 2008.
Having started off in the City, she gathered much experience in litigation and family law. Janette’s experience includes being a senior equity partner in an Essex firm handling a wide range of complex matters.
She advises and supports clients on all issues arising on the breakdown of relationships including divorce, co-habitation, HNW complex financial disputes as well as private Children Act matters to include residence, contact as well as applications for leave to remove children from the jurisdiction.
Janette is a member of Resolution.
Clients say she is clear, pragmatic and calm and above all is empathetic. She gets to the issues quickly as they become apparent. She is no pushover and will seek what is reasonable for her clients.
I am pleased to confirm that Janette acted for me in my Divorce proceedings from application through to Decree Absolute and relevant final court instructions.
Her firm has originally acted on my property mortgaging many years prior and so although I had not met Janette, she was handed my final divorce aspects.
I can confirm that despite this being naturally a very difficult and, in the end, lengthy process, all of my dealings with Janette were as clear and helpful as you could hope and expect.
I received very calm, clear and pragmatic advice which was very needed both due to the emotional side of this and as I had a very busy and demanding job which made me a difficult client!
Again, I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone and have done for my family.
I first met and instructed Ms Johnston in 2007 to advise and support me through a divorce and associated children’s matters. This should have been a relatively simple process given our particular circumstances, but unfortunately decree absolute was obtained as late as 2011, with conclusion of the settlement of finances taking a further couple of years. During this period my ex-wife engaged and dismissed two different law firms before briefly representing herself, and finally instructing a third solicitor. I valued Ms Johnston’s patience, ability to listen and her calm and considered approach in what was the most challenging and prolonged circumstances for me.
I also had cause to consult her last year, but this time in respect of a civil litigation matter. Again, she used her calm, considered approach, and feel that I was given a clear explanation of my legal position, and given good advice. I have no hesitation in recommending her to act for anyone, given similar circumstances.
