Surrogate Mother – SM

The term surrogate mother refers to a woman who carries a baby for a couple or individual when own pregnancy is not possible. This term is the correct term for traditional surrogacy pregnancies but is often used even when the surrogate is not biologically related to the baby she carries, in which the correct terminology is Gestational Carrier.
